They call themselves the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’.
I guess humans like to watch a little destruction. Sand castles, houses of cards, that’s where they begin. Their great skill is their capacity to escalate.
I’ve been given the green light to tell you something, something I’m excited about and nervous about and something I hope you’ll be very, very happy about. Ready?
I’m going to be signing your preorders.
All of them.
The entire first printing of The Retribution of Mara Dyer.
Soon (as in, today), the wonderful, wonderful people at Simon & Schuster will be sending me huge boxes of tons of sheets of paper that I will then sign at a rate of nevermind I would rather not know. Once I sign those pages, they’ll be shipped to New Jersey or somewhere, I’m not sure where they’re going, actually, but wherever they go they’ll be bound with the rest of the book before it goes to print. And then those first editions will be sent to the back rooms of bookstores everywhere and to B&N’s warehouses and Amazon’s warehouses, where they will wait, impatiently, for you to read them.
It doesn’t matter where you preorder from. It doesn’t matter what country you live in, or what city. Even if your favorite local bookstore doesn’t take preorders, if you walk in on release day, your copy will be signed. It won’t cost anything extra. And if you already preordered the book, you’re included.
In short: you preorder the book, you’ll get it on release day, and your copy will be signed. BOOM.
This is no small undertaking, guys. A lot of people at S&S are working hard, and fast, to make this happen for us. And God only knows whether I’ll still be able to type when all this signing is done. But I’m so happy to be able to do it. I wanted to give you something special to thank you for supporting Mara and me for a long time, and for waiting patiently and not so patiently for the last book. I can’t travel to every city/state/country to sign your copies in person, but I can do this.
And I can also give you links:Indiebound
[Update: The madness has begun.]
“It’s as if someone fashioned a small golden bird and then attached a ring around it. The bird is connected to the ring only by its wing tips. I suddenly recognize it. A mockingjay.”
Whenever Josh is like ‘I don’t think you should do it like that’. And then I’m like ‘Oh, really? Do you wanna tell that to my Oscar?’
